MEET THE TEAM
Robin Bady (Writer, Performer) is a storyteller / writer / speaker / teacher / MothSlam winner. She has been performing nationally and internationally for the last 30 years.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, she performs at countless spoken word venues, Fringe Festivals and storytelling festivals. Her children’s work is featured at major museums, schools, theaters, libraries and parks.Robin is the founder and curator of “No, We Won’t Shut Up!” – a powerful project showcasing the voices of a diverse group of women speaking about racism, bigotry, wage theft, sexual assault and gentrification.
You can see and hear Robin nearly every month in Brooklyn hosting the BADYHouse Storytelling Concerts.
Robin is currently touring her solo show – “Nancy Drewinsky and the Search for the Missing Letter” – a story about McCarthyism, anti-Semitism and her family.
Robin received a BFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at New York University. She was a co-founder of the Bread and Roses Theater; founded the Organic Youth Theater, Chicago and the Children’s Theater Workshop of the 92nd Street Y; founded the multi-ethnic storytelling ensemble Shirazad’s Children; and she is past Director of the Storytelling Center of New York City.
She is published in Storytelling Across the Curriculum and Storytelling Magazine. Her recent CD, “Stories, Stories, Stories”, was made with her partners The RagTag Band – instrument builder Skip LaPlante and violinist Concetta Abbate.
She is the recipient of a grant from the Brooklyn Arts Fund, seven teaching grants from Su-CASA, and the JJ Reneaux Emerging Artist Award and the Oracle Award for Leadership and Service for the Mid-Atlantic Region of National Storytelling Network.
Sara Berg (Director) works as a director, dramaturg and actor in New York City, and she enjoys bringing new plays to the stage through workshopping material. A show Sara both directed/ did dramaturgy for currently touring the USA; “Two Wings to Heaven: The Bessie Coleman Story” by April Armstrong has played at the Vineyard Playhouse, Martha's Vineyard, MA; the North Carolina International Black Theatre Festival; the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, FL, among others. Shows recently workshopped/directed in NYC include: "The Vault" by Cheryl Politzer Paley, “The Boogie Down Gospel” by Jessica Carmona and Jose Jacquin Garcia; “Lady Susan or The Captive Heart: a Jane Austen Bodice Ripper” by Lynn Marie Macy; “SPEAK” by Marla Mase and Tomas Doncker for Summerstage; "Black & White" by William Oliver Watkins; "The Color of Vengeance” by Lynn Marie Macy for New Perspectives Theater; and for The Theatre Projects Short Plays Festivals -- “The Surprising Measure of Buried Treasure”, “Getting Grandma’s Goat”, “Hitching a Ride on the Road to Hell”, all by Lynn Marie Macy. Sara’s most recent acting work was for a Zoom workshop production of “Equitas”
Heather Quinlan (Press Relations, Video) got her start as Web Producer for Discovery, TLC, and the Science Channel. Her first feature-length documentary, “If These Knishes Could Talk: The Story of the New York Accent,” was featured in “The New Yorker,” “The New York Times,” the BBC, WSJ, NPR’s “Morning Edition,” and “The Brian Lehrer Show.” It screened in film festivals around the country, at the Library of Congress, and streamed on Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, and Roku. Heather followed with “SPOKE: A Short Film About NYC Bikes” which screened at the Williamsburg Film Festival. Heather was also Location Scout for HBO. Most recently, Heather was Production Manager for “An American River,” which premiered at the Montclair Film Festival and aired on PBS.
